Integrated subject areas

Focus:  Integration

Ask your MST which e.g. math and/or science concepts the children are learning at the moment. Find out how she helps them to understand these ideas. Ask about how language is part of this learning.

If you can, get a sample of any documentation of the science or maths curriculum you can add this to your TP portfolio.  It will give you an idea of the kind of concepts children at this level can understand and also the kind of activities they are engaged in.

In the specialist class (e.g. ICT, PE, Islamic, Art, Music) observe the activities the learners are engaged in.  In your journal today write about these.

  Focus:  Classroom Management

Observe the teacher and complete the following table :

Beginning and ending the day
Punctuality at the beginning of the lesson	Teacher arrives before the pupils. She prints the paper and wait for the student. Learners arrive to the school most on time.
Teacher’s response to those who are late. What does she say?	positive reinforcement	First time..  Why you are late? Don’t be late again Sit down and do your  work

Moving
Moving the children for an activity. What does she say? do?	# Boys go and sit in the carpet. # Boys go and sit in your table. #boys take the toys and come sit here.
Moving the children: how do they respond?	They listen for the teacher and moving quickly.  They sit in their place and wait for the teacher.
Misbehavior
What was the learner doing?	He always fights with the boys and don’t listen for the teacher. Also, he said bad words.
What did the teacher say? do?	Teacher shouts and takes him to miss Jawaher. Teacher give hem bad point in class dojo depending in her behaviors.
How did the child respond:	He listens in this time. After half hour he starts her bad behavior again.
How does the teacher stop the children at the end of an activity? What does she say? do?	Good jobs boys. I will give all boys one point in the class dojo. Go and get toys from the shelf.

Observation Tasks 5 & 6

Different learning styles and differentiation – General observations  

   

What do you notice? Who are the students who answer the questions? Who are the students who are quiet? Who are the students who are not focused? I notice from the classroom, the students who always answer the question are:  Sultan, Saeed Ali, and Mohammed Adel. Also, mane & khilfa Amad are quiet students in the class. Finally, Abdullah Saif & Saif Mohammed they can’t focus in the classroom.

Are there learners who finish activities quickly?  What do they do when they have finished? Sultan Bader / he finish writing the math paper and all her answer correct.

Are there learners who do not finish a task(s)?  How does the teacher deal with them? Abaulla Saif, she explains for her the lesson again.

Are there any learners with special needs?  What kind of special needs do you think they have? How does the teacher deal with them? Yes, there is one boy. He has emotional behavior problem. He can’t understand what the teacher says. The teacher gets him a quiet place and gives the student a pencil to draw or a toy to play.

How does the teacher manage learners with different levels/abilities? She gives each group different activities to do in the classroom. I think these activities in their ability.
